Lectorate at University of Pretoria

The Guimarães Rosa Program for Lectorates finances Brazilian Lecturer to work in universities abroad to promote the Portuguese language and Brazilian literature in these institutions.

In South Africa, Brazil has two Lecturers: one professor at University of Cape Town, under the jurisdiction of the Brazilian General-Consulate in Cape Town; and another one at University of Pretoria, facilitated by IGR Pretoria.

The Brazilian Lecturer at University of Pretoria is typically responsible for teaching Portuguese language courses, conducting research, and organizing cultural activities that foster a deeper understanding of Brazil in the South African academic community. The Lecturer acts as a bridge between Brazilian and South African academic communities, encouraging collaboration and exchange. This program facilitates partnerships between the University of Pretoria and Brazilian universities and supports students interested in pursuing academic or research opportunities in Brazil.
